    Day 5

    Overview

This tour also known as golden route of Iran is famous for the succession of the historical, cultural and architectural highlights of Iran, presenting a glimpse into the grandeur of the ancient Persia. The tour will take you on a journey starting from 500 BC to the present, taking you to the several pages of Iranian history from the times of the ancient Achaemenid Empire to the more recent Qajarid and Pahlavi dynasties.

You will visit Tehran, the current capital city of Iran which was the capital during the Pahlavi and Qajar eras as well. Qom, Kashan, Isfahan, Yazd and Shiraz will bring you lots of adventure and experience with their eye-catching attractions.

    What To Expect

We start our tour with the Niavaran Palace and National Museum of Iran. Then, we go to the Grand Bazaar of Tehran to see the city’s hustle and bustle and to communicate with locals.

On the second day, we visit one of the biggest holy shrines of Iran, Fatima Masumeh Shrine. Then, we proceed to Kashan to see its masterfully designed houses.

On the third day, we start our journey to Isfahan and visit Natanz on the way. This town carries traces of Seljuk, Sassanid, Ilkhanid and Safavid architecture. We walk in the once Safavid summer resort and visit the most iconic landmark of the city, the Jameh Mosque of Natanz. We continue this spectacular journey, to a beautifully varied experience as we also visit one of the most popular tourist destinations in Iran, Abyaneh village. We will pass through historic sites to gain insight into the rich culture and history of this red colored village. Afterwards, we head for Isfahan to rest and make ourselves ready to see the city known as half of the world on the following day.

On day four, we visit Naqsh-e Jahan square. To picture the square in the Qajarid and Safavid periods, try to imagine the following scenes in your mind: a spacious courtyard, something similar to a football pitch, with small streams (Madi) running around the square and pouring first into the pools in front of the Jame Abbasi mosque and Qeysarieh bazaar, then from the Qeysarieh bazaar to the gardens in the east of Isfahan.

You can find the entrance to Sheikh Lotfollah mosque not aligned perpendicularly to the square's eastern wall and sitting a little way back. What claims attention when you look at the entrance is the lack of minarets and the asymmetry between the dome and the portal.

Chehel Sotoun Palace is our next stop. The columned veranda, also known as the Columned Hall, holds 20 columns, inspired by the Achaemenid style of architecture. The name Chehel-Sotun (meaning forty columns) may refer to the number of the columns added by their reflections in the water or it may suggest the plentitude or perfection figuratively. The entire veranda is decorated with fret-work, mirror work, and paintings. After lunch we make a quick visit to Hasht Behesht Palace, located in the heart of a beautifully aligned park.

In the evening, we go to Jolfa Neighbourhood to see the Vank Cathedral, (Vank means monastery in Armenian language), and go for a walk in this quarter. In front of the cathedral’s entrance, you can see the sculpture of an Armenian archbishop, Khachatur Kesaratsi, who built the first printing machine in Iran and founded the first printing press of the Middle East. Before entering, the brick decoration of the exterior and a dome on top of the church catches your eyes. The dome resembles that of an Iranian mosque, but it’s not tiled. At Night, a nice surprise waits for you at the Isfahan Music Museum.

The second day in Isfahan begins with visiting Monar Jonban or ShakingMinarets. Then, we continue to see the Atiq Mosque and taste Isfahan’s local food (Biryani) as our lunch.

In the afternoon, we go to the handicrafts workshop of Isfahan to see Sultan Bokht Agha’s tomb, Dardasht minarets and a Qajarid house. Then we will go to Zayande Roud river to breathe the fresh air and visit the historical  Khajou and Si-o-Se pol bridges. At night, we go to Zoorkhaneh to see the practice of Iran’s traditional sport.

The sixth day of our trip features stargazing. First, we will go to Meybod, then to Kharanaq and Chak Chak. At night, we stay at a local house in Kharanaq to see the stars at the night sky of the desert.

On the seventh day, we go to Yazd, where we visit Amir Chakhmaq Complex, Fahadan Neighborhood, Alexander’s Prison, Dowlat Abad garden, the Zoroastrian Fire Temple of Yazd and the water museum.

On the next day we drive to Shiraz, and visit Abarkouh on the way. For Lunch we stop at Pasargadae and visit the grandeur of the ancient Persia, then we continue our journey to Persepolis and stay in Shiraz at night.

In Shiraz, we visit Nasir-al Mulk mosque, Vakil bazar and Vakil mosque. In the afternoon, we visit Hafez and Saadi Mausoleums then, we go to Eram garden.

On the tenth day of our trip, we fly back to Tehran. At the end, you will be transferred to Imam Khomeini (IKA) airport.
