    Explore The Route

The Persian Gulf is home to many Islands of different sizes, each of which is bestowed with some unique features in terms of ecotourism and wildlife. The pristine Qeshm Island is the largest island in the Persian Gulf, comprising a global geopark. Neighboring Qeshm is the beautiful Island of Hengam, known for its shiny silver beach and playful dolphins. In addition to this, the Hormuz island is located in the east of Qeshm; a majestic island which is famous for its lovely colorful landscape, and the Larak Island, an untapped land in the Persian Gulf.

Day 1- The Route from the Mainland to Qeshm and Hengam Islands

The island of Qeshm is located in the northwest of Hormuz Strait, in the heart of Persian Gulf. Sea-buses leave the Pol Pier at Bandar-e Abbas for Qeshm at various hours (check the schedules at the table following the text). The first stop after arriving on the island is the Laft Village, from where you can head towards the floating mangrove forest called Hara Forest, which is home to some aquatic species and migrating birds. After Hara, visit the Chahkooh Canyon, a striking natural phenomenon in the eastern part of the island. It is a narrow valley with vertical walls on either side and some water ponds formed at its bottom, which are used as water supplies for the inhabitants. If you are seeking extra adventure, you can visit the Namakdan Cave; however, note that cars are not allowed in the area leading to the cave, which itself is considered as dangerous and not recommendable to common visitors. Next, stop at the Shib Deraz Village where you can get on boats leaving for Hengam Island.

Day 2 – The Route from the Hengam Island back to Qeshm and Hormuz Islands

Waking up at the Hengam Island is one of the most rewarding experiences of this tour. Here you can go to the Old Hengam area, enjoy the silver beach and shiny beach, observe the incomparable wildlife of the island or visit the dolphins swimming in the Persian Gulf. After getting around the island, get on the return boat to the Qeshm Island. Through the Shib Deraz Village you will get to the Naz Islands which are easily accessible at low tide. Back on Qeshm Island, the route continues to the Stars Valley, where you will come across some peculiar geological structures, created by natural erosion over the centuries. As Qeshm is famous for the interconnection of its unique geological sites and local culture, the next stop along the route is Khorbas Cave which is partially made by humans. It is assumed to have been the worship site of Anahita, the goddess of water. The route takes visitors to the Qeshm Geopark Museum, where a collection of the island’s natural diversity is put on display. After lunch, visitors can get on a boat to the Hormuz Island. Make sure you explore mesmerizing nature of Hormuz in the Rainbow Valley and the Red Beach.

Day 3 – The Route from the Hormuz Island to the Larak Island

The colorful Hormuz Island is home to peculiar natural beauty. While exploring the island, visit the Nadalian Museum and the Portuguese Castle early in the morning. Afterwards, you can go underwater diving on Hormuz Island or on Larak Island, where you can explore the site of the sunken ship at a depth of 32 meters under water.  From Larak Island go back to Hormoz Island where from you can return to Qeshm or Bandar-e Abbas.
