    Overview

    Tile-working in Iran has  a long history dating back to the 1st millennium BC. Being practiced during the ages in Iran, this intricate art is displayed in great diversity on monuments, mosques, mausoleums and portals across the country. In this tour, we have a short visit to the tile-works decorating the old monuments of Tehran, boasting the best examples of Qajarid and Pahlavi art. 

    What To Expect

    Your tour starts with a pick up at your accommodation. We are going to visit decent samples of tile-work on the façade of historical buildings in Tehran. First, we head for Mashgh square and our expert guide gives a full description of the history of this area. Then, we will visit Bagh Melli portal and Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the former Shahrbani palace (state general police department), to admire their magnificent tile-work. After gaining knowledge about the history and evolution of tile-working in Iran, we go to Khak Negar tile workshop to learn about the materials and techniques used in this art.
